The best all-round time to visit Hong Kong is October to early December, when the weather is mild and dry. The runner-up window is March and April, which is also when the azalea and bougainvillea bloom. Summer (May–September) is hot, humid and prone to rain — but rewards you with the cheapest prices.

Daytime highs around 18°C, perfect for Victoria Peak and outdoor walking. Chinese New Year (late Jan–Feb) brings parades, fireworks and spectacular decorations — but also premium prices and crowded attractions.
Mild and sunny with fewer tourists. March–April is ideal for families and anyone who wants a relaxed pace with good weather and reasonable prices.
Expect 30°C+ and afternoon thunderstorms (especially June–August). Great deals on flights and hotels, plus easy access to beaches at Repulse Bay and Cheung Chau. Always carry an umbrella and pack light layers.
Our personal favourite. Clear skies, comfortable 22–26°C, Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns in September–October and the very best views from Victoria Peak. Book 6–8 weeks ahead.
Festive lights across the harbour, giant Christmas trees at malls and cool weather. Saintly time for sights — just budget 20–30% more and book early.
October to April gives the most pleasant conditions for the Macau day trip, with comfortable ferry rides and clear photos of the Ruins of St. Paul's. Summers can be sultry on the streets of Macau.
